The Three Adult Powers

In Possibility Management, an “Adult” is someone who is radically responsibility, in relationships and actions. The three adult powers are to Declare, to Ask and to Choose.

Declare

Declaring is a way of taking ownership and standing in your own authority. It’s a tool for creating clarity and alignment with your values and intentions. An “Adult” declares with awareness of the impact of their words, to manifest possibilities or shift dynamics intentionally.

Ask

Asking involves vulnerability and acknowledging that you don’t have all the answers. It opens doors to connection and collaboration. Asking as an “Adult” comes from a place of curiosity and resourcefulness. It’s not about giving up power but about creating new possibilities by inviting others into the process.

Choose

Choosing is about using discernment to commit to a specific path, idea, or action. It’s about prioritising possibilities that align with your purpose or goals. An “Adult” chooses consciously, understanding the consequences and taking responsibility for their choices, rather than blaming external circumstances.

Next time you are looking at or thinking about someone you respect, ask yourself: Which of these powers are they embodying?
