The Next Step
Regenerative principles and practices are many and varied, and it's a learning journey not a recipe. Despite every context being different, there is always a first step, then the next step. So take the time to reflect on your context, review the options and research those that speak to you, then choose.
Make no mistake, change can be hard, but if you assume the experimenter mindset you'll be easier on yourself when you make, what others might label as mistakes. You will learn. It's part of the journey of developing observation skills. "Hey, I did this thing and it didn't work as well as I thought it would, but I noticed these things, and next time I will approach it differently."
Let's say you choose to experiment with Adaptive Grazing. Perhaps you listen to some #podcast, watch some #video, and read a few #book, or find a competent, experienced coach to bounce ideas off. Whatever your approach, be sure to take care of your mental health, by leaning on your close friends or a confidant, to let them know how you feel when things get bumpy.

In 2020 a research team led by ecologist Steve Apfelbaum explored four regenerative grazing ranches in Alberta, Canada. The ranchers were some of the very first to adopt organic farming and AMP grazing in Canada – making their ranches profitable, and a haven for wildlife. This film is a precursor to the more extensive 2024 Roots So Deep film.
